Extinguishers
Fire extinguisher inspection schedule
Three different jobs get called an extinguisher inspection. Only the annual maintenance date is the one the shop usually rebooks.
Put the annual extinguisher date on the same ledger as the alarm and the sprinkler.
Monthly visual
Building staff often do a look, not a shop visit. It is not the annual service.
- The extinguisher is in its place.
- The gauge, if it has one, is in the operable range.
- The pin and seal are in place.
- There is no obvious damage, corrosion, or a blocked sign.
- Someone initialed the building tag or the log.
Annual maintenance
NFPA 10 is the usual reference for portable fire extinguisher maintenance. You set the rebook date. Suggested start on the ledger: 12 months, then the shop writes the date.
Hydrostatic
Hydrostatic testing is a pressure test on the extinguisher company's longer cycle. It is not the monthly look and not the annual maintenance. The company has the year. This page does not state it.
Next to the other due dates
Extinguisher maintenance sits with the fire alarm, sprinkler, fire pump, hood and Ansul, and backflow. One overdue list, not a second calendar.
