AHJ visit
What to expect when the fire marshal visits
The visit is paperwork, a way to the devices, and someone who can open the door.
After the visit, put the next due date on the free ledger.
Day of
- Keys, codes, and the person who will escort.
- The last test report for each system the visit covers.
- A way to the panel, pump room, hood, extinguishers, and backflow assembly.
- The deficiency or repair list, if the building has one.
- The monitoring certificate, if the building has monitoring.
- Someone who can agree the next test date.
The inspection-day kit is that list as a sheet you can print and fill. Write down what they asked to see, and any re-inspection date they gave.
After a finding
Keep the note with the last report. Put the next due date on the ledger so the shop still gets the call if the manager changes. The handoff sheet is the paper copy of that date and the shop phone.

What if the last report is missing?
